Scottish Consumer Council welcomes investigation into unsolicited mobile phone downloads.   

A spokesman for the Scottish Consumer Council welcomed the toughened stance of the regulator:

 “Just because pretty well everyone has a mobile phone it doesn’t mean that everyone can easily afford an extra pound here or there being added to their bill from an unwanted download.  We are particularly concerned that younger phone users are finding their phone credit being drained by repeated downloads from sellers where they’d only thought they had to pay once.  We are glad that the regulator PhonepayPlus is conducting a review and are pleased that more people are turning to it for help.  We would encourage those others who have complaints about mobile phone services to follow their example.”
