Housing Disrepair in Scotland
This briefing paper updates a 2004 report by SCC on the motivations of owner occupiers to maintain and repair their properties. Using data from the Scottish House Conditions Survey the briefing argues that there is some corroboration that older households are more reactive and reticent with respect to repair than others. The briefing also raises questions over the use of grants where a works notice has been served. SCC suggests that more creative and innovative support is provided to owners who need to undertake repairs.
