Health
Health matters to everyone, and the SCC is involved in a range of work and projects
which aim to contribute to improving Scotland’s health and diet.
In relation to health services, we aim to ensure that the voice of the public, patients, their families and carers, particularly those who are disadvantaged, is given a central place in policy making, service planning and monitoring. We want health services which are designed around the needs of people who use services, and we carry out research to find out how well they are doing this.
We carry out research, promote consumer-centred policy development, and lobby for change in the following areas:
- access to health services
- patient information
- patient safety
- information sharing within the NHS
- complaints procedures
- patient and public involvement in the NHS
- the quality of healthcare
Projects based at SCC have a focus on health, including:
SCC policy work
We promote our health policy and research findings with key organisations such as the Scottish Executive Directorate of Health and Wellbeing, the NHS, professional bodies, patient groups and other relevant organisations.
We respond to relevant consultations about health policy and participate in various external committees and advisory groups.
