Current work

We are not planning, at this stage, to undertake any new research work in fuel and water during 2005/06.  We will be keeping a watching brief on the implementation of the Water Services Act 2004.  We campaigned successfully for stronger powers for the Water Customer Consultation Panels.  We will be evaluating how these new powers work in practice.

The SCC also campaigned for the establishment of a regulatory board for the water industry in Scotland.  The Water Industry Commission was established in July 2005. We will be keeping a watching brief on how it performs its role and in how this affects the consumer interest.
